Joseph Maus, the brother and bandmate of John Maus, has died while on tour in Latvia.
Joseph was in Latvia to perform with his brother in Cēsis, a town in the country's northeast. His death was confirmed by Maus's label Ribbon Music, which wrote: "We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to Joe's family, Robert, Sue, Kevin, Stephanie, and John Maus, as well as his bandmates Luke and Jonathan, his friends, and all those suffering this tragic loss."
Joseph interned at the online magazine Pitchfork in 2009. The cause of death is unknown, and all of John Maus's future dates have been cancelled.
