  • Marcel Dettmann is back on Ostgut Ton with a new double EP, Test-File. The six-track effort is the German artist's first solo record on his home label since 2013's Dettmann II LP. It sees the Berghain resident weave a range of influences into tracks that traverse house and various shades of techno, which the label says showcase his knack for improvisation. The relatively short 22-minute runtime suggests that Test-File isn't tied to the dance floor. Having debuted on Ostgut Ton in 2006, Dettmann is one of the Berghain-affiliated label's core artists, having produced some of its best-known releases. His last outing was 2017's Rauch, a collaborative release that presented two extended ambient soundscapes.
