  • The first speakers for Sydney's Electronic Music Conference 2018 have been announced. UK mainstays Sasha, Gilles Peterson and Greg Wilson, along with Canada's Blond:ish, will deliver keynotes at the seventh annual two-day conference, held on November 14th and 15th. This year's event will be moving to the Dr Chau Chak Wing Building at UTS in Ultimo and will be pivoting from its usual panel-heavy programme to one featuring a string of keynote addresses. Beyond the main Keynote Theatre, EMC will also timetable four additional areas with talks, workshops and masterclasses covering four topics: tech, artists and management, touring and events and EMC Studio, which focuses on "craft development and music creation," according to the press release. Accompanying the daytime conference will be EMCPLAY, a series of nighttime events spanning multiple venues around the city from November 16th to 18th. This year sees the addition of EMCPLAY LIVE, an arena to showcase live electronic performers, which takes place at The Landsdowne on the evenings of the 14th and 15th. Lineup details are yet to come. The announcement comes two weeks after EMC revealed that former Amsterdam night mayor Mirik Milan would be returning for their Global Cities After Dark forum on November 12th and 13th.
