  • A new FM radio station called Aire Libre is now broadcasting from the Mexican capital. Launched last week, Aire Libre 105.3 FM will host DJ sets of all genres as well as live performances, talk shows and broadcasts of off-site events. They've got a studio set up for recording and streaming performances (in the style of Seattle's KEXP or NPR's Tiny Desk) as well as an Airstream trailer that can be used as a mobile studio. On Saturdays Aire Libre (Spanish for "open air") will take the trailer out to broadcast live from different neighborhoods of Mexico City. Independent radio stations are few and far between in the Mexican capital—especially on the FM dial—and with the addition of 105.3 FM they hope to "boost the transformation of radio throughout the country," they said in a press release. "With our programming and concept, we hope to open doors to both emerging and established artists and musicians," they continue. "We're a forum and a media outlet for promoting the music and the ideas that move the world today." Tune in online here.
