  • Nina Kraviz has revealed the second release on her ???? sub-label GALAXIID. XRated, by pioneering Russian producer Solar X, real name Roman Belavkin, is a techno, IDM and electro album originally released in 1997. The smutty track titles take their names from cards in a London phone booth advertising call girls. "I liked the titles from these cards, which were self-promoting and offering pleasure," said Belavkin. "So, I thought since my tracks also offered some kind of pleasure, they might as well advertise this through their titles." The reissue, which lands on February 4th, will mark the first time the LP is available on vinyl (it was previously available only on CD and cassette). The digital files have also been remastered for the release, while fresh artwork comes from 83-year-old graphic designer Keiichi Tanaami. XRated follows Species Of Fishes' Trip Tap LP on GALAXIID, the label Kraviz set up early last year to release experimental, ambient and psychedelic music—and, occasionally, books.
