- Take Off Mode comes out at the end of April.
DJ Nate will release a new album, Take Off Mode, for Planet Mu on April 26th.
It's the Chicago footwork producer's first full-length since 2010's Da Trak Genious. DJ Nate was the first footwork artist Mike Paradinas signed to Planet Mu, and Da Trak Genious was a crucial building block in footwork's journey from a regional Chicago genre to global phenomenon. The release led to the Bangs & Works compilations as well as Planet Mu releases from DJ Rashad, Jlin, RP Boo and Traxman.
Since then, DJ Nate (real name Nathan Clark), has focused on his R&B and rap career, scoring a regional hit in 2012 with "Gucci Goggles." Two years ago, he was temporarily paralyzed from the neck down, and Take Off Mode refers to the recovery process. Alongside his rap production, Clark has continued to make footwork tracks, often uploading them to YouTube, and a selection of these cuts from 2010 onward comprise Take Off Mode. The label says the 17 tracks are "in direct continuity with DJ Nate's debut release and the early sound of footwork" while demonstrating "development in his processes and sound."
