  • Efficient Space will reissue the complete works of Karen Marks in May. The Australian label first included "Cold Café," a 1981 track from the Melbourne minimal wave artist, on its Sky Girl compilation back in 2016 and has since been working on showcasing her complete—and brief—catalogue. The result is a five-track EP of music produced by Ash Wednesday, an experimental artist and member of Australian group The Metronomes. "Won't Wear It For Long," a B-side from the Cold Café 7-inch, also features guitar from Icehouse member Robert Robert Kretschmer. "At the 11th hour of preparing this retrospective, two tracks unexpectedly surfaced via two cassettes—a paranoid demo version of her signature tune 'Cold Café' and a long-lost fourth song, 'Problem Page,'" the label says. "Both living room recordings follow Marks' and Wednesday's ingenious framework of minimal lyrics and minimal chord progressions." Listen to the "Cold Café" demo.
