  • Virgil Abloh's collaboration with Pioneer DJ is official. After months of teasing a transparent setup on Instagram and at Coachella, Virgil Abloh's designs for the Japanese giant's CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 models have been released. The Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago will display the new equipment in an exhibition dedicated to the Louis Vuitton's menswear artistic director, called Virgil Abloh: Figures Of Speech, from June 10th through September 22nd. Abloh explains his design choices: "I aimed to design a see-through and non-labeled rendition of the classic models to inspire a different sound while DJing—and perhaps a new way for music technology and human interaction to equal a different result."
This appears to be only one part of Abloh's collaboration with Pioneer DJ. Benji B and Gilles Peterson have both posted about an opaque mixer by Abloh, though there are no further details on that model.
