YACHT have a new album, Chain Tripping, on the way via DFA Records.
The electronic pop trio have turned to machine learning software on their latest album, with a working method "at the intersection of DIY and high-tech." Working with engineers and technologists, they fed their own back catalogue of 82 songs into various machine learning tools, which then contributed to the songwriting process. It was inspired by various generations of generative composition practices, the label writes, "from William S. Burroughs' cut-up writing method to David Bowie's custom 'Verbasizer' lyrics software from the '90s." The LP is out August 30th.
