Sunn O))) are putting out their next record in October.
Pyroclasts features four longform tracks that were recorded at the same sessions with Steve Albini that produced the Life Metal album back in April. Like that LP, Pyroclasts features cellist and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, Tim Midyett, Tos Nieuwenhuizen and core members Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson. The new record was made as part of a regular exercise where the group would record a 12-minute "modal drone" at the beginning or end of the day of recording.
The album, coming out on Southern Lord, is dedicated to their late collaborator Scott Walker, as well as Ron Guardipee and Kerstin Daley.
