- Grammy nominee Hajime sings in the Amami shima uta style, the traditional music of the Amami islands of southern Japan.
Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tim Hecker, the late Ras G and more have remixed tracks from Japanese folklore singer Chitose Hajime's 2018 album, Amami Shima-Uta.
Hajime is a Grammy nominee who has previously collaborated with dub duo Sly & Robbie. She sings in the Amami shima uta style, the traditional music of the Amami islands of southern Japan. Dorian Concept, Shintaro Sakamoto and Chihei Hatakeyama round out the six-track remix album, out on November 27th via Universal Music's Augusta Records.
Next month, Ryuichi Sakamoto will release a live album recorded last year at the Sydney Opera House with Alva Noto. Tim Hecker and the Konoyo Ensemble were recently announced as part of the Unsound New York lineup.
