  • The Earthcore crew have started to release information on the many and varied acts who will be headling the Earthcore Carnival 2004, a "three day global gathering" due to take place from 26-28 November at the Goulburn River, Victoria. Eat Static (UK) will be one of the 30 international acts playing, along with 200 local and interstate artists on the multiple stages. Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton as Eat Static have been at the forefront of the techno/electronica genre since its infancy, forming Eat Static in 1990 originally as a side project. Their first two recordings, "Abduction" and "Implant", introduced their pioneering blend of soaring trance grooves, sci-fi techno soundscapes and extraterrestrial imagery to early supporters of underground dance music. Eat Static was one of the very first live techno groups, debuting at the 'Orbital' raves in the early 90's. Since then, they have played all over the UK and Europe, as a major attraction at festivals such as Glastonbury. Other acts announced to play in the first round were 1200 mics (live, Ibiza/U.K), Hallucinogen (live, U.K), Younger Brother (live, U.K), Prometheus (live, U.K), Simon Posford (Shpongled dj set/U.K), Dj Lucas (U.K), Raja Ram (U.K), Salmonella Dub (live, N.Z), Son Kite (live, Sweden), and GMS (live, Ibiza). Second round tickets are on sale now for $85 on Earthcore's own website. In the coming months until the event there will be incremental ticket price rises, so if you're certain you're going get in now. Earthcore are also looking for DJs, bands and performers, so send them your demos if you're keen to play at the Carnival. For more info, hit the link below.
