In advance of the album's release, we caught up with Helena Hauff for a brief chat.What's your favourite album and why?
I don't really have a favorite album. There's loads of stuff that I like. At the moment I'm listening to Revelation by The Brian Jonestown Massacre a lot. When it comes to electronic music, I really love the Gesloten Cirkel's Submit X album. But as I said, there's just way too much good stuff out there from any time and genre to have that one favourite album.
Tell us about the recording process for this album.
I recorded the album over a period of about 6 month, but most of the tracks were written and recorded within a 3-4 week period. All in my home studio in Hamburg.
Why is Werkdiscs / Ninja Tune a good fit for your first LP?
Because it gives me the benefit of big label distribution and publicity and the total artistic freedom to do what the fuck I want and when I wanna do it. Plus, I love Actress!
What do you think is the ideal way to listen Discreet Desires? In the car, on the train, at home on the couch, etc...?
Wherever you want really. My personal preference is the car though!
