Dissonanze "International festival of Electronic Music and Digital Art", produced by Dissonanze media promotion and Centro Congressi Italia is an international festival of electronic music and digital art which was first held in the city of Rome in 2000. The festival shares many of the same aims and themes as the better-known Sonar festival in Barcelona which takes place the following month. The last edition of Dissonanze hosted 35 cutting edge international artists and saw 12,000 people through its doors over the 3 days of the event.
This year (and for the next two years) Dissonanze is centred in the stunning Palazzo dei Congressi designed in the early 1940s by architect Adalberto Libera, as well as using the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Rome (just in the Old Slaughterhouse of the city), the super cool Goa club in the Old Market area, and the recently renewed Teatro Palladium. RA was immediately drawn to focus on the cutting-edge programme of music on offer at night:
19 May - acid & progressive tech house @ Goa: Nathan Fake, James Holden and Giancarlino
20 May - Speciale minimal @ Salone della Cultura, Palazzo dei Congressi: Magda, Dimbiman, Ricardo Villalobos & Richie Hawtin back to back. Tiny Little Elements vj's.

If you're thinking of going on a Roman holiday this summer, RA thinks this would be the weekend to book.
