  • Private Function notches up party #27 on Friday 20 May, and continues to provide the best quality progressive sounds in Melbourne. This month's guest is Melbourne newcomer Ryan Papa, well known to RA readers as our former Canberra columnist, boss of Stigma Recordings and a damn fine DJ and producer. Throughout the past five years, Ryan Papa's talent as a DJ and producer has established him as one of Australia's premier artists. His sound is an assortment of percussive deep house, bass-driven progressive, melodic emotional breaks, twisted tech-house, and bone-shaking techno. Ryan's smooth mixing, experience, and versatility has been showcased at events around the world. From playing at intimate lounges to giant super-clubs, Ryan has proven his ability to engage his audience and deliver performances that aren't soon forgotten. Away from the dance floor, Ryan is fast becoming recognized for his work in the studio. He has already produced a number of well-received original tracks that have been supported by the likes of Hernan Catteneo, Cass, and PQM. Ryan's flair and creativity in the studio gives him a distinctive edge when DJing through his own remixes and re-edits of the tracks he plays. He is hard at work on an artist album that will showcase his eclectic taste in music. Ryan was also asked to remix Naveen G's smash "Dura" for US-based label Toes in the Sand; the remix is scheduled for release in April 2005. Ryan is just now starting to settle into Melbourne and he's performed a few times at Altitude, QBar and Darkbeat. Private Function #27 marks Ryan's first spot with the PF crew. Joining Ryan will be the PF residents Gavin Martin, Aaron Roach, Dean Millson and Sasha Petrovic. The party takes place at Platform One from 10pm until the wee hours. General admission is $15, with discount guest list entry being $10 (click here).
