  • In the space of a few months Product has gone from nothing more than daydreams and bar chatter into one of Nottingham’s most innovative and upfront nights. It now resides monthly at Stealth having been across town at The Bomb, legendary Nottingham home of Tyrant and a Sasha favourite, until its closure earlier this year. Stealth has thrived as other Nottingham clubs struggle as local bars run with offerings of middle of the road funky house and R’n’B. The Funktion One sound system showcases a weekly Saturday cross over night, across 4 rooms, with everything from Kasabian and The Kaiser Chiefs to Haywire Sessions Dave Congreve and Felix Da Housecat. Meanwhile Fridays see several diverse monthly nights covering the more underground sounds including Product. This Friday sees the debut of Cass, who's been busy in the studio of late with the Heretic album (together with Paolo Mojo). In the past week the finishing touches have just been put to a Cass & Mangan reworking of Tiefschwarz as well as mixes for Wall of Sound and Sunday Best. All this as well as the Cass & Mangan project signing to Fine with the first EP out in November. The excellent Nu Skool breaks spinning General Midi will brings his worldly presence to the night. So 2005 sees Stealth, Product, General Midi and Cass, all continue to diversify and break down boundaries in their own way. It seems innovation is key to succeeding in a British club scene that is more competitive than ever, which can only be a good thing for the nights, the DJs and us; the punters.
