  • A new book chronicles artist Keith Haring's interactions with New York nightlife. We The Youth: Keith Haring's New York Nightlife explores how the artist's work and life was tied with the New York club scene. The book looks at the spaces and parties that Haring attended, as well as the friends he made and inspirations he found, like Grace Jones, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Madonna. It also examines the mid-'80s AIDS crisis and how that affected his work. The book is written by Dave Haslam, a British author and DJ who has written several books on music and nightlife culture in the past. It accompanies an exhibition at the Tate Liverpool that launched earlier this year and will run until November 8th. Soul Jazz Records also released a compilation this year to go with the exhibition, collecting some of the music of Haring's time.
We The Youth: Keith Haring's New York Nightlife is out now via Confingo Publishing.
