The Rackless Kazi residency returns to Zambia with facilitators like Gina Jeanz and Catu Diosis.

British Council's Southern African Arts programme and Modzi Arts are hosting the second edition of their Rackless Kazi DJ residency this week.

In partnership with the Zambia-based non-profit, British Council is launching the 2019 instalment of their women DJ-oriented programme today, December 2nd. This year's nine-day event will be headed by facilitators DJs Gina Jeanz, Catu Diosis, Emily Dust, Ms Selfie and King Her.

Running until December 6th, the first segment will join ten South African amateur and mid-level DJs in Lusaka, Zambia for workshops on CDJs, brand development and business skills. From December 7th to 10th, the residency will move to Harare, Zimbabwe, where attendees will have opportunity to network with local artists.

Founded by arts organisations Modzi Arts and British Council Southern African Arts, the Rackless Kazi DJ residency was established to empower and educate young women DJs competing in the international music industry. Last year's inaugural event featured DJs like UK-based Jamz Supernova and Johannesburg's Rosie Parade.
