- The two albums, comprising five hours of new material, are out on New Year's Day.
Phil Moffa is launching his imprint Butcha Sound Records with two album releases, Meditations For Peace and Pieces For Painting, both out next year.
Combined, the two albums are a five-hour listen, covering a variety of ambient sounds. The first album, Meditations For Peace, contains two-and-a-half hours of material compiled from tape experiments and keyboard improvisations, arrangements which Moffa says are "intended to manifest peace in your life and the world around you."
"I came up with the idea for this collection after getting home from the memorial held for David Mancuso on February 14th, 2017," Moffa continues. "I thought about his message, the therapeutic power of music and bringing people together through sound and environment. I realized the importance of making and playing music with intent and I was incredibly moved by what I experienced that night and at The Loft the few times that I've been."
The second album, Pieces For Panting, which also comprises two-and-a-half hours of ambient material, is described by the NYC artist as darker and more peculiar than its companion album. The concept was derived from years of Moffa's conversations with painter friends. Detailing the record he says, "I imagine [it] would be interesting to have on in your art studio while you work."
Phil Moffa is a NYC-based producer and mastering engineer who has collaborated with the likes of Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers. Earlier this year, he released a 28-track album, 52nd Street Beat Tape.
