A new documentary called Assurance profiles women DJs in Lagos, Nigeria.
The documentary, directed by Juba—a British-Nigerian DJ living in Berlin—seeks to explore female representation outside of the prevailing, global North-centric narrative. The documentary profiles three DJs from Lagos, Nigeria—Sensei Lo, DJ Yin and DJ Ayizan. Assurance, which runs just over 30 minuets and premiered on 4:3 today, portrays women DJs facing issues unique to Nigerian culture, as well as obstacles faced by women in dance music around the world.
