  • XL Recordings's Richard Russell is releasing a book, Liberation Through Hearing, out this spring. Arriving via Lee Brackstone's White Rabbit imprint on April 2nd, the book will document the three-decade history of XL Recordings. Within, Russell will cover the artists who shaped the label, in addition to his collaborations with artists like Bobby Womack and Gil Scott-Heron. The book will also discuss the development of his producer alias, Everything Is Recorded. Russell says: "Writing this book was an opportunity for me to reflect on the last few decades. I hope people will get something from it. I've tried not to compromise in anything I've done, and that includes writing Liberation Through Hearing." Richard Russell is the founder and long-time label head of XL Recordings, and more recently produces as Everything Is Recorded. As Richard Russell, he has collaborated with Gil Scott-Heron on 2010's I'm New Here LP, and worked with Bobby Womack on the 2012 album The Bravest Man In The Universe, both released on XL.
