  • Pole will reissue his first three albums, 1, 2 and 3, as a box set on on Mute Records this April. Named after a defective Waldorf 4-Pole filter that gave his music its distinctive crackle, 1, 2 and 3 (released in 1998, 1999 and 2000, respectively) heralded the arrival of an artist equally adept with sound design and melody. Stefan Betke has remained a force in the electronic music world, both as an artist and a mastering engineer. His textured, dubby sound influenced the dubstep and electronic pop movements that would come later in the 2000s. The Mute box set contains all three albums, which have been remastered following the 2008 CD reissue on Betke's own ~scape label. The vinyl version will also come with a bonus 12-inch, RAUM, which originally came out on DIN records in 1998. Listen to the 2008 version of 1 2 3.
