  • Baltimore label Defective Records is releasing a best-of compilation called Electronic Mutations From Beyond. The ten-track retrospective features techno, IDM and more first released between 1994 and '98, the label's main active period. There's music by the likes of Mike Parker, DJ Who and Russia's Solar X, who put out his first two EPs via Defective. Glitch, AKA label founders Dan Nigrin and Bump Stadelman, also feature. The compilation is out on vinyl and digital from April 23rd. Launched in 1994, Defective released 30 records in four years, before taking a hiatus until 2007. Its last record came out in 2010. The catalogue has recently attracted fresh interest from labels like трип and Ellum, which have both licensed tracks. (One of those, Mike Parker's remix of "Give A Little More" by DJ Who, features on this compilation.) Listen to "Resonator One" by Mike Parker.
