  • If there was ever a DJ on the rise, it would have to be Desyn Masiello. The London-based DJ started his dance music career in the late 1990s with one mix CD that he took a considerable amount of time and love preparing. He sent it out to 100 random people that requested the CD from a post that Desyn put out onto various Internet message boards. After a few months the CD had been passed all around the world and ended up on the laps of various promoters and DJs. So good was the CD that Desyn, although completely unknown at the time, began to get international gig requests. Desyn has gone from his first international gigs in Helsinki and Tampara, Finland in 2000, to his chaotic DJ schedule today. He has mixed a cover mount CD for DJ Magazine (WMC issue), 'In House We Trust 3' (Yoshitoshi), and the first Bedrock Original Series CD. He is also the label owner, manager and A&R of SexOnWax and Alternative Route, a producer and remixer. His latest compilation is for the Australian-based label EQ/Stomp with Balance 008. Judging from the review on RA, Desyn has upheld the high standards of this series in a double disc that is thoughtfully programmed, funky and engaging. Desyn will be special guest at the most unlikely venue for a progressive gig in Melbourne when he plays Honkytonks on Saturday 26 November. The definite upside to this will be the change of scenery for prog fans and the chance to get up close and personal to Desyn on the baby grand. Supporting on the night will be Lance Harrison who likes it more on the tech side, but has shown at many a Likuid party that he can rock the floor, and Honky's regular Aram Chapers. Tickets are $20 on the door, and given that tricky Honky's door policy you are advised to seek guestlisting. Come on down Desyn!
