MC Yallah, Hieroglyphic Being, Omar-S announced for first Refraction Festival

  • Helmed by the founder of New Forms Festival, the debut edition of the digital event will kick off next week.

  • Refraction Festival has announced the lineup for its inaugural edition. The two-week digital programme will take place between July 16th and 30th, featuring DJ sets, installations, audiovisual performances and video exhibitions from a variety of artists. The schedule includes live sets from Amazondotcom, Hitmakerchinx and more. Also booked to play are Omar-S, Marcellus Pittman, Hieroglyphic Being and Sapphire Slows. Frequent collaborators D. Tiffany and Roza Terenzi will also appear at Refraction, alongside DJ Stingray, MoMA Ready and object blue. DJs Ciel and Mathew Jonson will provide bespoke visuals for their performances. Label showcases are also planned for the series. Ugandan label Nyege Nyege Tapes will perform an audiovisual set, while members of Canadian imprints Pacific Rhythm and Mood Hut will perform live. The new festival comes from the founder of Vancouver's New Forms Festival, in partnership with the artistic director of digital arts showcase CODE. The event will be used to raise funds for Color Of Change and The Bail Project. See the lineup in full.
