- Individual artists can receive up to $3,000 from the CARES Arts Fund.
Artists and small non-profit arts organizations based in Oakland, California, can now receive grants from the Oakland Cares Fund For Artists And Arts Nonprofits.
The fund, which will be distributed by the City of Oakland's Economic & Workforce Development Department, Cultural Affairs Division and the Center For Cultural Innovation, includes $1,425,000 which will be distributed in amounts of up to $3,000 for individual artists and $20,000 for arts non-profits (based off of budget size).
The CARES Arts Fund has been established "to mitigate Covid-19 related financial impacts suffered by individual artist and small nonprofit arts and culture organizations who are the backbone of the city's diversity and vibrancy of cultural identity and expression," and is made possible via federal funding from the CARES Act allocated to the State of California and the City of Oakland.
Eligible artists must make their primary income as freelancers or employees in the arts sector (including music) and be current, full-time residents of Oakland. Artists and small arts non-profits can apply now with the application deadline set for October 9th at 1 PM PDT. For full guidelines, head over to the Center For Cultural Innovation website.
