  • Semibreve is going digital for its 2020 edition this month. Taking place on the weekend of October 24th and 25th in Braga, the festival's tenth edition will focus on "seclusion" with a program "to be enjoyed at a distance." Semibreve will happen physically at the 17th-century Monastery of São Martinho de Tibães, with commissioned sound pieces, roundtable discussions, installations and filmed performances that will be available online. Pre-recorded commissioned performances will come from Laurel Halo, Oliver Coates, Klara Lewis and Gustavo Costa, along with new sound pieces from Jim O'Rourke, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Tyondai Braxton and more. Roundtable discussions will feature speakers like Nkisi, David Toop, Nik Void and Jessica Ekomane. Online programming will be available for free, while entry to the monastery is subject to a €4 fee that will go towards maintenance for the building. All entry will be controlled subject to Portugal's health authorities.
