Damien Eie, a veteran DJ and promoter in the Stockholm scene, has been sentenced to prison for raping a 14-year-old boy, reports Swedish national newspaper Aftonbladet.
Real name Aegir Sigurbjörn Jonsson, the Icelandic-born man, whose full name appears in official court documents, was sentenced to two years and six months behind bars at a district court in Stockholm on Friday, October 2nd. As well as rape, he was convicted of physical abuse and contacting a minor for sexual purposes. His lawyer, Magnus Eriksson, says the decision will likely be appealed.
Jonsson and the boy, whose identity has been protected, met on the dating app Grindr, which has an age limit of 18. According to Aftonbladet, the boy told Jonsson he was 16. After exchanging messages, the two met up and the boy was raped, Aftonbladet reports. They then met a further four times. The boy said he agreed because he was scared of saying no.
Eventually, after trying several excuses, the boy refused to meet Jonsson. In retaliation, Jonsson blackmailed him by threatening to post compromising photos all over the boy's neighbourhood if he didn't apologise for his behaviour, give him SEK 3,500 (£305) and meet him one final time. Jonsson also said he had set up cameras outside the boy's home. The two then met again and the boy was physically abused, strangled and pushed to the ground before managing to escape.
When questioned by police, Jonsson denied raping the boy and said he thought he was 17 years old. The legal age of consent in Sweden is 15.
Jonsson is an influential figure in the Stockholm party scene, having helped grow its techno movement in the early '90s. In 2017, he launched a radical ultraliberal political party called Technopartiet. He still DJ'd in Stockholm until recently, with regular slots at Kvarteret and Slakthuset.
