  • Hope and pray Mathew Jonson's studio kit finds its way to Miami as the Canadian producer headlines the Fusion 2006 party with a live performance at the WMC. If you find yourself wondering who the guy with all the machines is, at the Fusion 2006 party in Miami this month, the answer is probably: Mathew Jonson. Jonson will be carting along an Elektron Machinedrum (also used by Donnacha Costello and Robert Babicz), a Motu 828MKII, a Midi Controller, a Midas Venus V240, an Ensoniq DP4 and Ableton Live 3 for all of his live performances at this year's WMC. Mathew Jonson's tracks 'Marionette' and 'Decompression' were both huge tunes in 2005, and are always guaranteed a massive crowd response. Despite, having obviously played them on numerous occasions Jonson says he never tires of performing them live, "l like playing both because I play different versions every time. This way I never get sick of my stuff. I just remix it. I'm not really suprised by people's reactions so much because if the music is good then I am just as excited as they are....usually because I have never heard it like that before." In between the heavy touring Mathew Johnson has still found time to get back in the studio, and Fusion 2006 partygoers should be lucky enough to hear some of his newer untitled productions as well as previous releases '7.19FM David' and a remix of 'Decompression', which he usually likes to play. Jonson is also a part owner of the Wagon Repair label which has had releases from Konrad Black, Loose Change (aka Jesse Fisk), The Missing Link (aka Matt Cavender) and more recently Montreal's Mike Shannon. So, will he be bringing along any Wagon Repair promos to give to the other DJs playing at Fusion 2006? "Hope so!!! Should have the whites for the Mole record and also Cobblestone Jazz. Might even have the new Hrdvsion but probably not." Mathew Jonson will be performing live at the Fusion 2006 party at The Penthouse on March 24th, 2006.
