  • These days Brazilian youth don't just shake it to samba and capoeira. For the last few years, electronic four-on-the-floor has been making headway in the world's hardest partying nation and the Skol Beats Festival is now one of the highlights of the nation's dance music calendar. Spread over seven main stages, Sao Paulo's paulistanos will groove to over ninety house, techno, trance, electro, breaks and drum 'n' bass artists. The festival includes a host of local international heroes including techno and tech house pioneers Anderson Noise and Renato Cohen, as well as emerging Kompakt artist Gui Boratto. Brazil's most famous electronic export DJ Marky, widely regarded as the saviour drum 'n' bass, will host his own stage joined by leading d 'n' b players Makoto, DJ Hype, Andy C, DJ Andy and fellow countryman Patife. The Skol Live Stage will host performances from globetrotting festival whores the Prodigy and LCD Soundsystem as well as electro and techno heavyweights Sven Vath, Loco Dice, Timo Maas, Misstress Barbara and Tiga. European house and trance pin-ups Martin Solveig, Steve Angello and Armin van Buuren add international heft to the one-day festival which also features an arena hosted by London venue The End. The Skol Beats Festival takes place at Anhembi, Sao Paulo on May 13th, 2006.
