  • November 11 2006. Radioactivity is a weekly roundup of the best radio shows, podcasts and downloadable sets online. This week Sally Shapiro, Sasha and a new Stephan Bodzin mix. *** Bodzin Language: Too tough to keep track of all the millions of Stephan Bodzin releases? Those who are still waiting for the super-producer's debut DJ comp 'Systematic Colours' to arrive in the post will have to make do with the new demo mix up on Plantage13 which handily puts his twelve-inches, remixes and collaborations into one seventy-minute package. What else is there to say? Bodzin looks a bit like Anthony Hopkins. And this is the shit. Sweet N Swedish: What is it about Scandinavia? Every so often they throw up a synth pop outfit that takes Anglo ears by surprise (Hello Annie, The Knife, ABBA). In 2007 the good money is on Sally Shapiro, who voices some sweet Italo-flavoured pop getting props lately from the likes of Stylus and bigstereo. Check out 'I'll Be By Your Side', 'I Know' and 'Anorak Christmas' for a taste [right click to download]. The music (and webspace) is supplied by Johan Agebjorn, who recently did a great Italo-disco mix for German webradio station Welt Am Draht. Donato Doozy: Swiss label Mental Groove put out the excellent Crowdpeaser & St. Plomb album earlier this year, and a closer look at their site reveals a bunch of mixes for download including efforts by Crowdpleaser, St Plomb and Italian DJ and producer Donato Dozzy. This mix is especially great: Dozzy spins a variety of minimal that sounds like no other – more trancey, spacey psychedelia than pots and pans. Microtrance? Hell, whatever the label, this mix is this RA staffer's favourite of the year. Monolake of the Month: Techno pioneer and Ableton synth inventor Robert Henke has just started a free-track-of-the-month system at Monolake’s website. This month up for grabs is both sides of their first 12" 'Cyan' released on Chain Reaction label from 1995. Also on the site is a bit of background to the tracks – the bassline on this one was the sound of a mosquito flying by the microphone. Monolake are not big believers in DRM so these are clean, high-quality MP3s. Sasha San Francisco: It’s been eight years since Sasha put out 'Global Underground 009 - San Francisco', and while he may have lost his hair now, he hasn't lost any of his fans in the bayside city. GU:009 was based on his sets at SF club Spundae, and this week the club presents a new two-hour mix from Sasha on its monthly radio show Air Spundae. You can catch it on Frisky Radio on Thursday 9:00 p.m. GMT, and Bay Area proggers can also catch him in the flesh back at Spundae on November 24, 2006. (Hankering after the Sasha of old? Here’s a Sasha set at the Hacienda from 1989!) *** There you have it. If you have any links to fantastic music which you want to share with the world, post them in the forum or send 'em along to infoATresidentadvisor.net with the subject line 'Radioactivity'. *** Radioactivity - delivered to your door with the milk every Saturday morning GMT.
