Latest effort from ace compilers Jazzanova focuses on electronics from the early eighties. Specificially, 1981 and 1982 when sampling technology was still in its infancy.
Many of the tracks on ‘Computer Incarnations For World Peace’ are new wavish, but there are also pieces which are closer to the spirit of the Jazzanova collective, including jazz percussion from Ray Barrett and jazz-fusion from violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. But according to compiler Alex Barck, the unifying theme of the record is the recently revived Italo-disco and European cosmic sounds, or more specifically, synth-pop gems which sound as organic as they do electronic.
Previously, Jazzanova have issued compilations of Brazilian music (‘Paz e Futebol’), east European jazz (‘Focus Jazz’), club music (‘…mixing’) as well as folk and electronica (the ‘Secret Love’ series).
