New York studio Def Mix celebrates twenty years with a triple CD compilation of remixes and originals by David Morales, Frankie Knuckles and Satoshi Tomiie. 'Defected presents Def Mix Classics' lands in October.
The Def Mix crew of Morales, Knuckles and Tomiie helped define the sound of piano-driven New York house back in the eighties and nineties. The studio became especially known for its remixes, retooling divas such as Alison Limerick, Mariah Carey and Ce Ce Peniston as well as pop acts U2, Jamiroquai and Michael Jackson.
'Defected presents Def Mix Classics' compiles twenty-eight of the studio's biggest releases including Frankie Knuckles' 'The Whistle Song', Frankie Knuckles and Satoshi Tomiie's 'Tears', David Morales' 'Needin' U' and many of its biggest remixes (Sounds of Blackness, Robert Owens, Mariah Carey) across two mixed CDs. A third unmixed disc includes reworks of the Jaydee, Simply Red and Diana Ross.
