- Dixon and Âme’s label moves away from house, dialing it down for an ambient compilation inspired by a trip to Japan.
New on Dixon and Âme’s Innervision label is an ambient compilation inspired by a trip to Japan. Muting the Noise arrives in May.
The press notes for the release explain: “On the first day in Tokyo, we were thinking that something is different here, that there are many people and lots of cars on the street but it is still quiet so you automatically calm down. We were muting the noise for ourselves.”
“At the beginning of the 90s it was normal to have an ambient floor on every bigger techno or house party,” say the Innervisions crew. “This culture got lost in the new millenium though—it became a niche and went more into cultural activities. When we returned from Japan we spoke about that with some friends and artists, and all of them were inspired to make a contribution to this project. Even Klaus Schulze, one of the pioneers of electronic music.”
The CD features one cut by Schulze alongside ambient pieces from Innervisions producers Âme, I:Cube, Henrik Schwarz, and Stefan Goldmann. The Japan connection is reinforced by contributions from Japanese and Japan-based artists including Koss aka Kuniyuki, Terre Thaemlitz and Tokyo Black Star.
’Muting the Noise’ comes in an embossed linen package with a 60-page softbound book.
