- Brazilian jazz, soul, funk and disco all figure in on his upcoming mix. Oh. And some drum & bass too.
Drum & bass's finest DJ Marky will take a stroll down memory lane with Influences: Compiled & Mixed by DJ Marky.
The album, which will see release in October on BBE, will see the Brazilian DJ mixing up a diverse collection of jazz, funk, disco and even a little bit of drum & bass along the way. Marky has been infusing his own productions and DJ sets for years, but for the first time they come out unfiltered through the drum & bass prism, whether it be the white boy soul of The Style Council or the legendary Sambalanco Trio, whose jazz excursions mirrored the brilliant pop music coming out of the country at the time. What say you, Marky? "Variety is a spice of life!" Indeed.
