  • Downtempo fave Circlesquare will return to the big stage next year. The producer, who is better known as Jeremy Shaw, will release Songs About Dancing and Drugs, his first full-length in five years on K7. Shaw, who was one of the stalwarts of the defunct Output label, made his name with 2003's Pre-Earthquake Anthem. It was a record suffused with the songwriting of an artist that had grown up listening to rock and had turned to the tools of electronic music to realize his slow-burning torch songs. If the press notes are to be believed, Songs About Dancing and Drugs is set to be more of the same: It's "beaten down, scuffed-toe bass meditations wrapped in desert blues and dub delay—ambient music with an anti-pop brain and a rock'n'roll heart." Sounds good to us. Tracklist 01. Hey You Guys 02. Dancers 03. Timely 04. Music For Satellites 05. Ten To One 06. Bombs Away, Away 07. Stop Taking (So Many) 08. All Live But The Ending K7 will release Circlesquare's Songs About Dancing and Drugs on January 27, 2009.
