About

  • Introduction KSS Black was formed in Bristol 2009 by Cameron & Subkulture. The label is the culmination of their shared passion for drum & bass, technology and design that they have held since the nineties. Ignoring the boundaries between various sub-genres of Drum & Bass KSS Black will release a wide variety of music ranging from the hardened, uncompromising technicality of established artists such as The Sect to more minimal, deeper vibes from Mute and Bias. History KSS or Komotion Sound System was started near Reading in 1995, originally a free party sound system the crew swiftly moved on to more legitimate enterprises and are now one of the leading providers of sound equipment and club installs in and around London. Never losing their passion for the music KSS branched out into label management in 2007 with KSS Red, a Hard Techno Label. They have received widespread critical acclaim and every release has rapidly sold out. Plans were soon conceived for a Drum & Bass arm and KSS Black was born. KSS Black has developed a separate and unique identity to suit the technical, futuristic musicality of its Drum & Bass releases. Music KSS Black’s early output is structured around a core group of artists. The Sect, Mute, Bias and Pyro each bring their own unique approach and sound to the label. Our aim is to expand this core group by adding both new and established talent to our roster. As a label we are giving our artists the freedom they need to exercise their creativity whilst providing an outlet for their productions, and this is reflected in our forthcoming releases. KSS Black will release on Limited-edition, Full-artwork Collector’s Vinyl as well as Digital formats. Digital releases will feature a free bonus track from one of our artists. Clothing merchandise designed with the same attention to detail as the music will also be available directly from the label, and traditional online retailers.
