  • Bicep's forthcoming second album, Isles, features two tracks with the vocalist and producer Clara La San, who you may know from her excellent 2017 mixtape Good Mourning and her work with the likes of Mssingno (Fones EP) and Scratcha DVA ("Pink22"). One of the collaborations, "Saku," is the latest single from the new LP, following last month's "Apricots" and "Atlas," which came out in March. At its core, "Saku" is another Bicep belter, IOM-ready and heavy with wistful melancholia. But it also marks a departure from the duo's typical sound, drawing from IDM, footwork and '90s R&B. The first two influences can be felt in the drum programming on "Saku." R&B shines through in La San's involvement, of course, but also through Bicep's commitment to clean, polished productions that evoke an emotional response. The end result really works.
