Andy Caldwell Presents Insoul Sessions Vol 1

  • This, the first CD of the InSoul Sessions features recent visitor, Andy Caldwell mixing up some of the finest in San Francisco style deep house. Throughout the mix it features the elements one would come to expect from the genre - percussive house beats, funky basslines, sweet vocals and on a slightly chilled out tip compared to the charged up sounds of other house genres. The vocals of Amma appear many times throughout the mix and it's easy to see why - her soft and sweet vocal stylings really compliment the sound. Her song Was It Real kicks off the mix and really sets the mood, she then performs vocals for The Beard's synthesiser workout, Someday and moves the mix into deeper house territory. Andy Caldwell mixes in his own productions such as Face Of Love and Don't Hold Back featuring the vocal talents of Omega and also provides some of his own remixes such as Frank Boissy's La Baie De Rio giving the mix a true Andy Caldwell flavour. OM Records artist Marques Wyatt contributes For Those Who like To Get Down - definitely a deep house classic, especially with the really nice bassline laced throughout the track and also due to the production efforts of one of deep house's favourite DJ of the moment - Jay-J. Another one of deep houses favourite producers, Kaskade, offers up the percussive Be There and is the only track on the album to feature male vocals. Kaskade is definitely one to watch out for in the scene and remixes the last track Heartbeat by Amma to bring the mix to a chilled out mood and a sweet close. This is a pretty sweet mix up of deep house tunes, definitely a CD to have playing while chilling out and for deep listening. This is one CD for fans of deep house and who have enough attention span to be able to absorb the beats, bass and sweet vocals.
