Precision - Nightmare

  • Precision is the duo of Gab Olivier and Kristo Beyrouthy. And as is always the way at Zero Tolerance headquarters, artists usually mix and match, and despite the combinations something special seems to result. Not much has changed with this release, its another name in Precision, and its more quality aural pleasures from the boys in Melbourne. It's called 'Nightmare', and its anything but what the name suggests. The Original Mix features on the A-side and takes a 4/4 beat approach. It begins in a slow chugging fashion with the trademark dark beats of a Zero production. A subtle throbbing base rings underneath the3 surface as effected vocal snippets fly around the production. A stronger baseline then takes control soon after as the track lifts a few gears with an increase in drum activity and general sounds. An eerie floating melody enters the action with evil results, and then as the track steps up another gear we are truly encapsulated in the nightmare of this track. Another brilliant dark production from the Zero Tolerance stable, and on this occasion Precision deliver the goods. On the flip is the Breaks Mix. Obviously the beat patterns are a little quirkier here; however, many elements remain from the original mix such as the dark effects and the throbbing baselines, and not to mention the ‘nightmare’ vocal samples. The breakdown midway into the track is sure to scare a few as a subtle electro baseline is used to great effect. A bouncy springy sample is used brilliantly as well as the breaks remix starts to come into its own deep into the track. With remixes scheduled for Bedrock Breaks and Nascent, expect to hear more from this duo. And if Nightmare is anything to go by, then bring it all on.
