Pat Foosheen - Zion

  • Pat Foosheen delivers an absolute must purchase release for the Aussie boys at EQ Grey in the form of 'Zion'. Already appearing on labels such as Inversus, Fade and Polyester, Pat is a man that is definatley not new to the production game. Despite his previous releases however, it seems as this is the one that really should get him the credit he deserves. The original and Sphere mix on the flip both do this release justice. The Original Mix is on the A-side. It starts off with some eerie effects underlaid with a nice deep rumbling baseline. The track maintains a nice eerie flow, especially with the main floating effect used throughout the production. Midway in, the computer announces the return of ‘Zion’, which then takes the production to another level with more intense effects and a higher drum activity. It’s an impressive return to proceedings for Pat Foosheen. What is just as impressive is the Sphere Mix on the flip, which is arguably one of the finest remixes of the year so far. From the word go the production has an excellent flow to it with the brilliantly produced drums. The Zion vocals filter in and out as the main melody slowly builds its way into the track. Soon enough, a vicious baseline fills the air as the melody also goes full throttle. Midway in, a spine tingling breakdown sees the baseline change chords, and a down right stunning string pattern makes its way to the forefront. The beat comes back in then slowly fades out concluding a brilliant piece of production by Barry Robb. Despite his previous releases however, it seems as this is the one that really should get him the credit he deserves. If this is the case, one would think that he should hand Barry Robb a beer as well as he delivers one of his finest productions to date, which is also no easy feat considering the quality of his productions. Great release - you must check this out.
