- Anybody who has kept their eye on music blogs in the past few years (or, indeed, followed last year's Mercury Prize) will likely be sick of all these deltoid shapes in band names. Spare Greek producer Dimitris Dimas your spite, though: the Skyway EP is not grossly belated witch house or insipid guitar pop. What it is—in line with past Fourth Wave output—is house music, albeit of a playful, leftfield sort.
There are fleeting similarities to Fourth Wave artist Gerry Read, in the odd halting gallop of "Loose & Limber." But where Read's recent Jummy was a mucky, thorny affair, Dimas' productions are comparatively sprightly and harmonious—the kick drums rounded, the pads pillowy, the sub-bass gently vaporous. "You" is the most fully formed and the most brazenly melodic, seeming to have its eye on the crowded market for warm, vocal sample-led house. Things get more interesting as the tracks become briefer and more sketch-like: the title track's diffident disco shuffle and mildly nauseous pads are a highlight, as are the thick chord stabs in "Coconut Girls," paired off against stumbling hi-hats to quietly seductive effect.
