  • Seroya and Holmes Ives make a very talented couple as Holmes remixes ‘Only Your Love’ on Shinichi and gee is it kicking up a fuss. Seroya and Holmes featured on Bedrock a while back with the very smooth, ‘Mystic Roya’ and it seems there is no looking back. ‘Only Your Love’ has featured on Deep Dish’s Global Underground Toronto and DJs like Anthony Pappa, who says “This tune is amazing and Im going crazy over it. Really love this Holmes Ives mix. Outstanding!”. The Holmes Ives remix starts off low with haunting bassline loops, light samples and smooth drums. From the outset the gorgeous house sounds that are always present with Holmes come alive. The haunting bassline whoops it’s way alongside layered guitar loops and high pitched sounds. As the bass lowers slightly, the beautiful but menacing vocal comes in and the graces over a short breakdown, which is then interrupted with the tingling rumble of the bassline dropping back in. The is a large array of sounds which appear and reappear throughout this mix including clever little melodic loops which are simply layered over other sounds. Very smooth. Instead of opting for the identical dub mix with no vocal, the Holmes Ives dub lifts the bassline tempo up a notch with a little more aggression. The vocal actually makes it into this mix but only a few of the lyrics are displayed. As the track enters the breakdown you are immediately met with something different as breathtaking synths flow over and deep sounds dominant. Again, a great bassline drop as the track keeps it deepening feel which is quite different than the above mix. If you are a fan of very fine house with deep tones, then this is for you. I would highly recommend this release.
