Helwig & Holleman – Borderliner EP

  • Helwig & Holleman release this Borderliner EP on new to the scene Dutch label, Combined Forces. Relatively unknown producers, the duo release these productions with relatively little pressure on them, and as a result put some quality work on this EP. The bouncy beats and deep baselines of Mothaload is what is first heard of these two lads. It’s pretty impressive from the word go as the track builds with smooth sounds and the progressive baseline. The breakdown early in is a smooth phase where strings float and sounds echo, while the baseline takes a different shape. The beats then take this production to a close and all in all, a pretty good result has occurred with this production. The smooth background strings and effects of Behind The Lines help make this a much silkier production of the two. The beats keep the production flowing, but it is the higher and especially the mid end sounds that do the work here. IT maintains a similar arrangement throughout, but never really tires as well. It’s a welcome addition to the EP. Definitely a good release here for the Dutch boys. Although it lacks that little something making it a great release, it still possesses some good qualities that will make this release get the attention it deserves.
