Flügel's remix of "Amygdala" is a beautifully delicate piece of dreamy house. It replicates the original's plaintive mood, but adopts a rawer approach. A tinkling loop occupies the first few minutes before evaporating into a playful synth melody. Bolstered by an elegant bossanova rhythm and perfumed by sweet xylophones, it's a ravishing number.
As you'd expect from one of house music's more idiosyncratic practitioners, Wruhme's remix of the album standout "Nices Wölkchen" glides easily past. Using morsels of Apparat's vocal, it saunters along on a woodblock rhythm, packed with more spooky noises than a haunted house, a near-imperceptible bass hum lurking menacingly in the background. Like Flügel's remix, it makes you want to revisit the originals, which should make Koze consider the EP a job well done.
