- To kick off the first release for 3 Beat Breaks, the talents of Wrecked Angle and Oceanwave have been called to deliver some breakbeat remixes of I Am, the classic single by Chakra. Chakra’s single appeared on the classic Jackpot Reocrds mix cd by John Digweed, and the original and Bedrock mixes to this day remain very fresh. The debut release for 3 Beat Breaks puts a breakbeat angle on ‘I Am’, and the result is very very impressive.
First up is the Wrecked Angle mix. Smooth broken beats commence the mix with some effects running wildly in the background as well as a vocal snippet. The main baseline soon enters and gives the production a great flow, especially in the early parts as the track builds. The main vocal soon enters about midway through as the track continues to build with subtle but enticing synths. All in all it maintains a great flwo throughout, really helped by the baseline and subtle effects that happen amongst the vocals.
Oon the flip is the Oceanwave Mix by Kasey Taylor. There is a great use of effects and sound sthroughout in this mix as well, as well as nice subtle strings that wash in and out. A good deep baseline is again put to good use as it nestles itself in the background of the track. The vocal rides the track quite well, especially deep in as a nice warm melody enters the track, in true Oceanwave style. Another great remix of this classic.
A great way to kick start a new label venture, with the breakbeat remixes of Chakra sure to please many who remember the Jackpot classic from years back.
