Madox - G_Toolz EP 2

  • The 4th release on the first Italian Breaks label, Mantra Breaks, sees Madox deliver the G_Toolz EP 2. 3 full on productions and one DJ tool are included in the release that sees why Mantra Vibes felt a breaks label was needed showcasing the talented breaks producers in Italy. The Resonance Song begins the EP and how it does in great style. It seems to blend many styles, namely the guts of a techno production with the beats and flow of a breaks tune. Simply devastating from the word go, this track uses a good flow of drums and a tough but funky techno dirty base synth that keeps the production vibrant and interesting throughout. Da Tool#001 is a nice DJ tool featuring clattering drums and swirling effects. Bootsycall is first up on the b-side and the track showcases the funky side of Madox’s productions. Using a nice bouncy baseline, as well as some funky effects and a great array of sounds, this production is by far the most upbeat of the lot. Bazzface Killah follows and this production lie between the other two, not quite as tough or funky. But it is, like the others, very bloody good. The beats chug along at a nice pace while the baseline gives this track a killer funk. Nice eerie subtle sounds ride the track also as do really subtle vocal sample. A great way to close out a great EP by Madox. Definitely one of the finer breaks releases of the year for me, and it is not surprising that it comes from Mantra Breaks. It is no wonder why the likes of Plump DJ’s and Rennie Pilgrem have already been using the services of Madox in their sets. Check this out at all costs.
