Philipp Gorbachev - Let's Dance

  • Cómeme affiliate Phillipp Gorbachev launched his own PG TUNE label back in May. A platform for digital-only singles, it kicked off with "Power Of The Funk," which delved deeper into the dark techno Gorbachev touched on with his debut LP, Silver Album. As with its predecessor, "Let's Dance" feels like being parachuted directly into a pounding mid-set melee, which is unsurprising given that Gorbachev originally wrote both tracks for specific use in live shows. It's simple and functional, but with a good deal of personality, eschewing an intro of any sort to let loose its churning percussion and repetitious vocal from the get-go. Adornments from there on are sparse—a sparkling flit of keys here, a brief, blocky pattern of bass notes there—but they add just enough of Gorbachev's usual charisma without detracting from the tune's primary function as a floor tool.
