- Sacre Live a fusion of dance music, North African rhythms and vocals from Frederic Galliano & The African Divas, many have tried to combine the two but many have also failed miserably. Frederic however has captured the voices and feel of the African sound and blended it's energetic spirit with the catchy up beat feel of house music. Frederic Galliano has a mission to explore the musical links between house, jazz and African culture presented here with Sacre Live. Recently one of the tracks has been taken and reworked into a nifty little 12" by fellow F-Communications member Jeff Sharel (La Someone) and producers The Youngsters, Melou Melou is obviously one of the stand out tracks from the album with Divas doing their thing, rolling beat and girls on the backup vocals adding in the "ahh ha ahh ha".
Presentement kicks off with an applause from the audience and light sampled effects twinkling in the background then dropping into Agne Barra Ke more on the house side of things with minimal African divas but a pleasant tune itself, distinct rhythmic rolling beat, cascading piano and if im not mistaken some sort of kettle drum heard later throughout the album. Koukou Le has a familiar boppy beat relating to the African vibe with the audience making another appearance creating that "Sacre Live " feel.
Wailing in the back a siren sample and shaking beat of Baba drops in the Divas "Aye yah yahh" vocals and cascading effects with those Kettle drums taking the lead. Fulling the live attitude Label Brouse is a reggae style cross African breaks track different from the others with its unusual vocal samples and lack of accompanied Diva's, a nice addition to the CD.
Usually fusion can go a bit wrong but with the elements of house, electronica, and bumpin African Rhythms Frederic Galliano delivers an album worthy of a listen. Check out the 12" if you get a chance.
