- Audiobulb Records are a UK based label but have an international artist roster. The label is run by David Newman who met many of the artists through Internet messageboards. Audiobulb release what they call “exploratory electronic music”, and that is exactly what you get.
“Switches” is 14 track compilation album featuring some of the most mind-blowing music I have heard in a long time. If dj dance floor friendly music is your thing, I suggest you stay well away from this release. However, if you want a lesson in sound design, and a taste of experimental futuristic electronica that pushes the boundaries of what an artist can create using modern day technology – this album is a must.
It would be ridiculous to try and describe each and every track as they all have their own sense of originality and style that break down any and all preconceived ideas of form and structure in music. The sounds vary from ambient melodic tones, frenetic idm styled drums and programming, to bizarre samples from nature and the human environment. If you are someone that appreciates sound design this CD truly presents a very broad sonic palette of textures that are a delight to listen to.
Audiobulb are a relatively new label but must be commended on their courage to put out such forward thinking music. Brilliant.
